  2. Load-in – each player takes turns revealing Pre-show cards from their Pre-show decks, you can only play 1 Featured artist card, 1 Support artist or fan. And only 3 Standard pre-show Cards in the Load in zone (purple Sideways Cards)

LINKING - You can link "Featured Artist" cards from the Left Link Zone.

you can link "Opener Support" and "Fan Support" cards from the Right Link Zone.

(Show- Main game)

  2. First turn- goes to the player with the highest impact rating

  3. Draw Phase – Turn player draws 1 card from their rhymebook to their hand

  4. Mainphase – Turn player plays Verse, and action cards from their hand and artist abilities off their artist card. until they choose to end their turn or turn is forced to end via opponent successfully playing or overturning during rip damage 2 reversal cards.

The player with the lowest impact rating goes first during the Load-in Phase – The player with the highest impact rating goes first during the show.

IMPORTANT – You may Mulligan your starting hand as many time as you wish until you have at least  1  Zero hype cost card- or verse card that can be played for 0 on first turn.

SECTION 4: Playing the game

  • Winning the Game You win if your opponent cannot overturn cards from his or her Rhymebook, or your opponent ends their turn with no cards in their rhymebook.

  • Increasing Your hype rating Your Hype Rating is increased by the number printed in the Rip Damage Triangle of every successfully played card you place in your Hype stack (remember, any card that you play that is not reversed from the hand goes into the Hype stack and is considered successful).  If you lose track of your hype rating, it is easy to figure out: just add up the numbers in the RIP Damage Triangles of the cards that youve successfully played in your hype stack. (All Cards Hit the hypestack if not successfully reversed or re-actioned from your opponents hand.)

  • Taking Rip Damage To simulate taking damage, an opponent overturns cards from his or her deck (Rhymebook) equal to the amount printed in the Damage Triangle (plus or minus any other effects).

  • LIMITS – You can only play 3 Verse cards per turn, and 3  Action cards per turn.

  • You can only activate 1 Pre-show Card effect that is activated by returning it to the pre-show deck, Per turn.

  • Reversing a verse or Action You can reverse your opponents verses or Actions in one of two ways: 1. Playing a Reversal from your hand  You may only play a Reversal if your Hype Rating is equal to or greater than the hype cost of the Reversal AND the Reversal is the appropriate type to reverse the card played. If all the requirements are met, the verse or Action is reversed and trashed. Any effects listed on the Reversal card take effect, then any damage in the Damage triangle is dealt to the player whose card was reversed. The Reversal is placed in your hypestack (any damage value on it increases your hype rating). your opponent’s turn ends if you Reverse From your hand or Rhymebook  2  Verse or action cards during their turn, or if a card effect states otherwise.  You are not required to play a Reversal from your hand.

  •  2. Overturning a Reversal from your Rhymebook When you take Rip damage, you overturn cards from the top of the deck equal to the amount of damage received. If while doing so, you overturn an appropriate Reversal you stop taking damage immediately.  (reversals when turned over from the Rhymebook always cost 0 hype- as a printed value)

  • IMPORTANT: You may not do any of the damage indicated on a Ripped Reversal.

  • IMPORTANT: if a verse card has more than 1 typing, I.E – Chopper and Banger are listed—

  • You can play from your hand or overturn during rip damage, Both a Chopper and a Banger reversal card or (re action card for actions) and “stack them” to reverse the 1 hybrid typed verse.  THIS COUNTS AS 2 REVERSALS PLAYED AND ENDS YOUR OPPONENTS TURN REGARDLESS OF EFFECTS!

  • If a reversal has more than 1 typing, it counts as 1 reversed card when it reverses a card.

SECTION 5: Affiliations

  • Any affiliation your artist card has you can play cards with the same symbol/ affiliation.

  • This counts for – Verses, Reverses, Actions, Re-action, pre-show cards and Featuring artist cards.

  • IMPORTANT – Artist specific cards work the same way as affiliations do, they are just artist specific!

  • CARD EFFECTS CAN CHANGE THIS!

---------------------------------------------- ENCORE-----------------------------------------------

----PLAYING CARDS FROM YOUR HYPESTACK--- (Advanced Ruling) -{Encore}

You can Re-play / re-active any Verse or Action card in your hypestack by sending other cards in your hypestack to your trash that equal or exceed the hype cost of the re-activated card.

IE: cards Hype cost is  10  hype,  you can discard  2  cards from your hypestack with 5 rip damage each to equal the 10 hype cost

(you may also pay more than the required hype cost, but by no more than the amount necessary to play the re-activated card with the current PRINTED VALUES in your hypestack.)

 IMPORTANT:

The Re-activated card resolves to the hype stack as if played from your hand.

  ----------------------------------OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULINGS---------------------------

 Deck Search Ruling:

  • When a Card effect triggers that allows you to search your deck for any card, (Specific or non specific) You Must reveal the Chosen card to your Opponent.

  • Then you may proceed to put it into your hand or any other designation by the card effects.

  • REGARDLESS OF TEXT ON CARD, Searched cards MUST be shown to your Opponent. UNLESS stated otherwise within the card effect itself.

ARTIST ABILITY RULINGS:

  • You May only use 1 "ACTIVATED" artist ability per turn.

  • This usually means effects that start with phrases like, "once per turn," and "Once per Show".

  • Passive Artist Abilities are not effected by this ruling. I.E. Artist abilities that are constantly in effect, like --> bonus hype, damage Reduction or Bonus.

  • Triggered Artist Abilities are not effected by this ruling, I.E. abilities that trigger from an external source than the players direct choice to activate. usually starting with phrases like, "when "X" do "Y""  or  "if "X" You can "y"" or  "Whenever "X", you "Y""

  • These rulings also apply in the same way to "Featured artist cards" and "Support" link cards, but are independent from each others rulings.                         I.E.  You can use 1 activated ability per turn from your main artist card, you can also use 1 activated ability from your featured artist card, additionally you can ALSO activate your Support Link card, all in the same turn, but not simultaneously.

IMPORTANT RULING NOTICE FOR Jimmy Donn artist card:

  • "Once per turn, during opponents mainphase. You can discard a card to prevent the activation of one of your opponents reversals"

  • When an opponent plays a "reverse card" during your turn. It is considered stealing mainphase for a moment.

  • Hence the wording "once per turn" even on your opponents turn when playing Jimmy Donn.

  •  Official ruling is "Mainphase" when in reference to "once per turn" effects. is current player with card in the Stage Zone. or player with the next inevitable card being played in the Stage Zone.

  • However this ruling does not allow effects that have commas in them as a conditionary effect to trigger another action during opponents turn .even if you are reversing. Because after the reverse card resolves to the hype stack. mainphase control is granted back to your opponent immediately.

  • (I.E./ example : you can not activate Dezlooca's search ability during your opponents turn regardless of who controls "Mainphase"

  • You can not take another physical action during a stolen mainphase after a condition is met for the ability. I.E. --> Because Jimmy Donn's ability is only a condition that has to be met to stop the card there is no physical action taken by the player after its done, the "Fizzled" reverse card was never activated.

  • WORD FROM THE CREATOR ABOUT THIS RULING.

  • (So in theory a player COULD ACTIVATE any artist ability during a stolen mainphase via reversal, but once there is a second physical action that must be taken by the player, AFTER the Condition to activate is met, Rulings state that the reverse card must resolve first, either to hypestack or trash. so once this card resolves, two things simultaneously happen, the stolen mainphase is returned to the TURN player, and the artist/Link ability Misses its timing, because it was activated but the reverse card took priority to resolve, which interrupts the conditional ability. its like, if you pay for a service but it gets lost in the mail.  the reason Jimmy Donns ability works the way it does is because there is no action taken by the player using it AFTER its condition is met, you discard the card and boom the card ceases to have been ever activated.)
